Narrow Gauge Railways of Saxony – Dave Coxo
On Monday 14th April Dave Coxon, East Midlands Branch Secretary, presented the talk ‘Narrow Gauge Railways of Saxony’ which was a record of his 2015 trip centred on Dresden.
Whilst the weather on his trip was poor his photography was good. From the tour base in Dresden he visited 5 or 6 lines having mostly steam haulage with some lines using diesel traction. Steam motive power included Mallett locos in addition to 2-10-2 tanks. Whilst these lines are now tourist operations some included static exhibitions of transporter wagons and how coal distribution used to work.
The tour finished back at Dresden where we saw standard gauge DB locos. A number of our audience had visited the area, the show re-kindling their memories. We thanked Dave for this well prepared presentation and his in depth knowledge.
