Part 2 - 'The John Wells Collection’ - Bryan Acford

After the passing of our member, Chris Berridge, who held the ‘John Wells Collection’, Bryan Acford has now acquired the rights to dispose of some of the collection which Chris held. A daunting task no doubt, scanning the black and white negatives.

Part 2 covered the period through the late 1950s and into the early 1960s. The photos mainly concentrated on main line passenger workings and included many of our favourite locos including GWR Kings, Royal Scots, Stanier Pacifics and LNER A3s, A4s, etc. John travelled as far north as Scotland and south to Devon and Cornwall. Of particular interest were GWR Manors plying their trade in mid Wales as well as Sonning Cutting.

With many pictures taken on the same day in a particular location the sheer volume and different types took us back to those early spotting days. ‘All in All’ a very interesting collection and we thanked Bryan for his presentation.
