Roaming around London with a Camera
This was the first occasion for some time when we have had a slide presentation. This covered the last two and half years and featured a wide range of subjects taken in the London Area. It is very difficult to cover every subject and location covered. It is not always easy to find good photographic locations at the correct time of the day. The bridge over the Thames provided a good location for the new Stadler trains for Merseyrail and Newcastle on their way from Europe via the Channel Tunnel. The replacement footbridge at Southall provided a good location for the GWR main line. It was interesting to note that a number of the LSL trains to and from Eastleigh travel via London rather than through Oxford. There was the familiar site of stone trains however these were heading for the railhead at Quainton via the Chiltern Line rather that the usual stone terminals. Not forgotten were the Charters heading out of London featuring steam traction and a variety of diesel classes. These included a Western, Class 56’s and Class 73’s. Overall this was a very interesting presentation demonstrating the variety of locations to photograph railways in the London Area.
