WEN – David Mitchell China Clay on the Rails

Dave Mitchell,  the branch chair will entertain with a talk called “China Clay on the Rails” it will cover the years from the 1950s through to 2026. It will comprise of a look at the main loading places and branches in Cornwall and Devon, ending in the harbours at Par and Fowey. The next part of the talk will cover the main line traffic through the years, particularly that to Stoke/Cliffe Vale, but also Speedlink, slurry (Irvine etc), and the continental traffic via the Dover train ferry and Channel Tunnel. The show will end with the switch to GBRf in 2026
